Polk Moms

Connecting moms in Polk County, Fla.

We traded in our 2005 Honda Civic (almost 85,000) after having it for a couple years.  Hubby wanted to get a new car so there were no worries about it. If only!!!

We've had the new car for just over 4 months now and have brought it back to the dealer 5 times with issues so far.  First was a rattling noise in the back there was something loose with a bracket in the trunk area causing the noise.  The second time we had issues with the USB and they replaced the USB cord.  The third time was a rattling in the steering area.  Had to get insulation put in around the air bag as it was overlooked in the plant when it was made.  The fourth time was a banging sound in the gas tank going over speed bumps (less that 5 MPH), some roads and if you had to break.  They called the tech line of Honda in California and they said it was the baffles in the tank.  They got about 11 cases but no resolution for it yet.  So out the door we are sent and told if they recall it, we would be notified.  The fifth time was this morning.  Had a noise in the steering area again so figured it may be the insulation with the air bag, but it's not.  The housing on the steering column is loose and needs to be replaced.  It's a freaking new car!!!

Hubby called Honda in California to say how unhappy he is with the car and told them about the gas tank.  Got a case number and that was it.  Today was the breaking point and called them back.  They are assigning it to a case manager, they'll contact Regal here to see what if anything was done to resolve the issue (they were a bit stunned that the gas tank was not fixed), and then see from there what they will do.  Not sure if they are going to replace the gas tank and we keep the car or buy back the car and replace it.  If they replace it, not sure if we have to settle with the grey ones they have at Regal or can they find us a blue one like the one we have.

So for now we can't fill our tank because the noise is driving us nuts.  So any out of town trips need to be postponed or if we go we have to keep stopping to get gas.  Can't go over half a tank.  Keep getting told the Lemon Law will replace if it's brought in for the same issue 3 or more times.  Getting from the dealership that it's 3 times or more if it's a safety issue.  Yet on the phone the same one that stated safety issue, said before to hubby that it's 3 times not fixed to our satisfaction.  So who knows what it is!!

Just not happy to be paying on a brand new car when things need to be replaced so soon and having these issues.  We only had the car a couple weeks and hubby was going to return it and they reworked the money to make it worth it to keep it.  Then to top off our tank the last few times we had to go up there.  Not even sure if we just got the one bad apple in the bunch or if they do replace it with another, are we going to have the same issues because it may not be just a few.  Headaches!!!

I got a call yesterday and they are going to put us in a newer 2012.  Of course there are no Dyno Blue color left like we got, but the dealer in Brandon Honda said if they produced Dyno Blue in a group and we got another, there's a chance for the same issues.  So we get to choose from silver or grey.  No red or burgandy color (not partial to that one).  Our car was made in July of 2012 so looking for a newer made one.

I can't believe how much the car lost value after 4 mos.  What they are going to do is take ours, do a pay off, but we are still going to get a $3,000 balance carried over.  Payoff is just over $19,000 and they are going to give us $16,500 trade value (above what it says it books for right now with the age and mileage just over 4,000 miles).  We really don't care at this point and it's only going to raise our payment by $20 a month.  Hoping to stick with the same credit place for the loan.  Since I was making the payments ahead of the due date, it was knocking down the loan and would have paid it off a bit sooner as well with the way they do the interest.

We did already tell them we went to Honda manufacturer to start an open case file, we went to the Attorney General, contacted ABC Action News and went public with our issues.  Guess they don't want any further dealings with us because we already had 2 issues with noise in the steering/dash and we just needed one more for file Lemon Law issue.

About to head out and get to the dealer.  Going to be fun.

I don't know who you have for your loan Mid-Florida Credit Union has promotion going on you might won't to ck with them, Wish ya'll the best on your new car and hope ya'll have a Merry Christmas and Happy New

Well we got a new 2012 Honda Civic Grey color or Polished Metal as they call it.  We added the GAP and extra warranty stuff so payments went up $30 from the original payment.  It's still manageable luckily.

Hubby test drove the black one (they just got in the other day) and the silver one.  Both actually had noises coming from the dash area.  Took out the grey one and not 1 sound (so far).  You can hear a little noise in the back with the gas sloshing (not banging) and the suspension a bit stiff since it's pretty new.  Only had 23 miles which was from test drives.

Tell ya it is a weight off our shoulders now.  Granted they took a loss taking it back right now but they will make it up when they resell it.  Yes they are going to resell it.  That is the only Dyno Blue 2012 Honda Civic up there so be aware of the issues we had with it in case you know of anyone looking to buy it.  Not sure if they are going to replace the steering column cover (was to be done Monday).  Just a friendly suggestion, don't buy it unless you want a headache...lol

I just read something this morning about the Honda Civic having noise problems,I can't remember if it was on AOL or The Ledger it said something about the car being I guess I would call cheap, but when the competiors were building better and quiter cars they had to go back up date I know they said it was the Civic

Wow...totally missed that article yesterday.  Thanks for telling me about it.  I found it in  The Ledger.  You think they would have mentioned this yesterday when we were on the phone with the dealer and Honda themselves.  Knock wood this one goes good.

They are shooting for Mid Florida (was turned down before).  We ended up getting some credit union bank in Rockridge FL.  Not sure if we will get the same one or another bank.  He said we do qualify for the requirements at Mid Florida.  I hope so because I do have an account in my name and my son's.  It's a parental account because he can't sign his name yet.  Plus I rather deal locally.  Hated sending payment out to the other place and pray it got there.  They didn't do online payments.  We would have to open an account, do direct deposit and set up automatic payments.  I don't think so.  We have a local bank for direct deposit.  Never thought to head there first to see about a loan.

I would print a copy of that article, I went to Google and searched Honda Problems and it mentioned about the noise problem, We got our car fin. thru Well Fargo Dealer Services, we had to file Bankrupts last year and we were lucking we were able to get a new car fin. they gave us a pretty good interest rate, they do have it where you can do your payment online, witch I like
