Ex-Boston TSA screener sentenced for child porn

http://www.myfoxboston.com/dpp/news/local/ex-boston-tsa-screener-se...

BOSTON (AP) - A former employee of the U.S. Transportation Security Administration has been sentenced to nearly three and a half years in prison for possessing child pornography.

Federal prosecutors say 34-year-old Andrew Cheever of Lowell was sentenced Wednesday to three years and five months behind bars and two years of probation. He was also ordered to read victim impact statements of six children depicted in the pornography he collected.

He pleaded guilty in December.

Authorities say Cheever had thousands of child pornography images and videos on his home computer and made them available on the Internet using peer-to-peer file sharing software.

Cheever was a security checkpoint screener at Logan International Airport until he was taken into custody in September.

He no longer works for the TSA.

TSA officers charged with trashing South Beach hotel room, shooting gun

http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/03/28/2718902/tsa-employees-charged...

Two Transportation Security Administration officers are accused of trashing a South Beach hotel room and repeatedly shooting off a gun.

Miami Beach police say two Transportation Security Administration officers partied a little too hard Tuesday night, trashed their South Beach hotel room and then picked up a semi-automatic handgun and shot six rounds out the window.

One bullet pierced a $1,500 hurricane impact resistant window at a nearby Barneys New York, penetrated a wall and tore into some jeans in the closed store’s stockroom, according to store manager Adelchi Mancusi.

No one was injured.

Jeffrey Piccolella, 27, and Nicholas Anthony Puccio, 25, were arrested just before midnight. The Palm Beach County men have been charged with criminal mischief and use of a firearm while under the influence.

In a city known for wild, late-night behavior, merely tossing speakers, lamps, a phone, ice chest and vase out a second floor room at the Hotel Shelley, 844 Collins. Ave., might not have drawn much attention.

But according to an incident report, a front desk clerk and security guard called police about 11:18 p.m. after they heard one gun shot, followed by three to five more after a few seconds. When the clerk went back inside the hotel, a guest told him someone was throwing furniture and bric-a-brac out the window of room 217, where Piccolella and Puccio were staying the night.

Detective Vivian Hernandez, a police spokeswoman, said officers arrived and, after a shell casing was found on the ground amid broken room furnishings, the SWAT team was called out.

Investigators went to the mens’ room and then took them to police headquarters.

In a recorded interview, Piccolella told a detective he and Puccio were drinking before returning to their hotel room, according to the incident report. He allegedly said they opened a window, tossed several objects out and then Piccolella grabbed a .380-calliber pistol from his luggage and they took turns shooting out the window.

You Don’t Have To Be A Criminal Sexual Deviant To Work For The TSA… But It Helps

Prostitution rings, child pornography, trashing hotel rooms and drunkenly firing guns: A week in the life of TSA agents

http://www.prisonplanet.com/you-dont-have-to-be-a-criminal-sexual-d...

March 29, 2012

The TSA is under intense scrutiny this week following a congressional hearing to examine the agency’s performance. Which is why higher ups will not be pleased to see the headlines thrown up today by a simple online search.

First of all there is the case of TSA manager Bryant Jermaine Livingston, 39, who was arrested by police during his shift at Washington, D.C.’s Dulles airport for his alleged involvement with a prostitution ring.

Prior to his arrest, Livingston was caught in the Silver Spring Crowne Plaza Hotel with three naked women and four other men, after the hotel manager became suspicious and called the police.

While the now former TSA agent claims he was holding a “swingers party”, the other men involved admitted that they had paid Livingston to take part.

Another TSA official also told police that Livingston had a history of being involved with prostitution for several years.

The former Logan airport screener was found to have thousands of child pornography images and videos stored on his home computer. He was also found to have shared the material online using peer-to-peer software.

And then there is the case of two TSA officers gone wild, who got drunk, trashed a South Beach hotel room Tuesday, then picked up a semi-automatic handgun and fired six rounds out the window.

The Miami Herald reports that Jeffrey Piccolella, 27, and Nicholas Anthony Puccio, 25, were arrested and charged with criminal mischief and use of a firearm while under the influence.

The police report stated that the bullets fired penetrated windows and walls of nearby buildings. Thankfully no one was injured.

As we have consistently highlighted, the regularity with which these kind of incidents occur with TSA workers makes it look like committing felonies is a prerequisite to get a job in airport security.

We’ve documented numerous examples where TSA agents have been caught committing crimes both on and off the job, from molesting children, to stealing, to kidnapping, to assault, to drug smuggling. The list of cases is growing to biblical proportions and gets larger with each passing day.

Efforts to curb TSA powers, eliminate the use of wasteful, useless, and potentially harmful body scanners, make TSA grope downs a felony are not just about protecting our privacy, they’re also now about protecting us from a sub-human criminal underclass that has been given carte blanche by big government to unleash their predatory sexual and criminal fetishes on the traveling American public.

Former Police Chief Sentenced 18 Years For Sexual Abuse, Child Porn

http://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2012/04/09/fmr-police-chief-sentenced...

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A former Minneapolis Park Police chief was sentenced to 18 years in prison on Monday for sexually abusing children and possessing child pornography.

William Jacobs pleaded guilty to three counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct and three counts of possessing child pornography in March.

He was first arrested in 2010 after a teenager said Jacobs had abused him for three years at his Deephaven, Minn. home. Inside Jacobs’ home, investigators found nearly 40,000 images of child pornography on CDs and DVDs.

After Jacobs’ arrest, 17 men came forward and accused him of sexually abusing them between 1962 and 1980, when Jacobs was a camp counselor and cop. Those accusations, however, were too old to prosecute.

On Monday, Jacobs apologized in court and read a letter to his victims. He asked that the letter be given to the victims afterward, but the victims said they did not want it.

Jacobs said he was sorry and that he is cursed when it comes to his sexual behavior. Freeman rejects that argument.

“You are responsible for what you do, with very rare exceptions. Bill Jacobs doesn’t fit in that exception.” He said

Freeman says he hopes this case gives other victims the courage to come forward.

Jose Salgado, TSA Agent, Arrested In Child Porn Crackdown

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/04/11/jose-salgado-tsa_n_1417686...

An agent with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has been suspended from his job after he was arrested for allegedly having and sharing images of child pornography.

NECN reports that Jose Salgado, a TSA screener at Logan airport in Boston, was collared as part of a massive child pornography crackdown in Massachusetts.

"These people are your neighbors," Marian McGovern, Massachusetts state police colonel, said at a press conference. "These people look just like everyone else, and they're doing these things under the cover of their own homes."

Salgado was one of 55 people nabbed and accused of various child pornography-related charges, according to the Boston Herald.

"This is just a drop in the bucket,” state police Sgt. Michael Hill of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force told the Herald.

News of Salgado's arrest comes just one month after ABC News reported that a former TSA agent in Maryland was indicted on federal child pornogra....

TSA inspector accused of stealing iPads at DFW Airport

http://www.star-telegram.com/2012/04/13/3882741/tsa-inspector-accus...

A Transportation Security Administration baggage inspector at Dallas/Fort Worth Airport has been indicted in the theft of Apple iPads from luggage over eight months.

Clayton Keith Dovel, 36, of Bedford was arrested Feb. 1 and has been suspended indefinitely, officials said.

The investigation led to the recovery of eight stolen iPads, including one that was among Dovel's possessions at Terminal E when he was arrested, airport police said.

The indictments that the Tarrant County grand jury issued this week charge Dovel with theft by a public servant of items valued at up to $20,000. If convicted, he could face two to 10 years in prison.

According to airport police, a traveler reported Jan. 24 that his iPad 2 had been stolen and that he had traced it electronically to a home in Bedford owned by Dovel.

While arresting Dovel in that case, airport police discovered another iPad in Dovel's leather satchel. Dovel told authorities that the iPad was his but that he couldn't remember where he bought it, according to police reports.

Using that iPad's serial number, police traced it to a Grand Prairie man who had reported that it was stolen as he traveled through Terminal E in May.

In the indictment, Dovel is also accused of stealing iPads in November and early January.

CBS Philly reports that this week it observed Harkin working as a TSA checkpoint supervisor between airport terminals D and E, where thousands of people - including lots of kids - pass through every day.

FBI agents caught sexting and dating drug dealers

Dating drug dealers, harassing ex-boyfriends with naked pictures, and pointing guns at pet dogs: these were just a few of the offences committed recently by serving FBI agents, according to internal documents.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/9887270/...

Disciplinary files from the Bureau's Office of Professional Responsibility record an extraordinary range of transgressions that reveal the chaotic personal lives of some of America's top law enforcers.

One male agent was sacked after police were called to his mistress's house following reports of domestic incident. When officers arrived they found the agent "drunk and uncooperative" and eventually had to physically subdue him and wrestle away his loaded gun.

A woman e-mailed a "nude photograph of herself to her ex-boyfriend's wife" and then continued to harass the couple despite two warnings from senior officials. The Bureau concluded she was suffering from depression related to the break-up and allowed her to return to work after 10 days.

But the sexually explicit picture was only one of what FBI assistant director Candice Will described to CNN as a "rash of sexting cases". The network was the first to obtain the logs.

Two other employees, whose genders were not specified, sent sexually explicit messages to fellow members of the Bureau, one a work Blackberry during office hours.

The second employee included a nude photograph which "created office gossip and negatively impacted office operations".

"When you are given an FBI BlackBerry, it's for official use," Ms Will said. "It's not to text the woman in another office who you found attractive or to send a picture of yourself in a state of undress."

During another incident, an employee snapped during an argument with their spouse and went on to snap an e-reader in half. As the situation deteriorated they pointed an "unloaded gun at dog's head while dog was sitting in spouse's lap". The agent was suspended for 45 days.

The logs, which contain incidents from July 2012 to January, also describe how a woman "engaged in a romantic relationship with former boyfriend (now husband) knowing he was a drug user/dealer". She was sacked after lying about the relationship.

Other firing offences included shoplifting, possession of child pornography and hiding a recording device in a supervisor's office during an employment dispute.

The incidents, and many others, were included in quarterly emails sent to all FBI employees to help them in "steering clear of ethical pitfalls and other violations".
