Connecting moms in Polk County, Fla.
I wanted to add this for your food tasting consideration. I took the kids last year and we left so satisfied and full. Oh my goodness, it was so wonderful, we actually went back the next day for 2 days in a row of eating. Yum!
We will certainly make an appearance this year, too! It really is easy to get there using the Polk Parkway for those that don't live close by.
Have you ever been?
Here's the press release that was emailed to me this morning:

Wow, this sounds good. Was it super crowded...long lines for food?
Permalink Reply by Shawn Spivey on January 16, 2013 at 11:04pm Well, like I admitted before, I went two days. :) On one day it was a bit more crowded but on another not as bad. I think I would time it for what would be typical "off" hours for eating, saying 2ish, 3ish? It's not lunch time, but it's not dinner time either. But really, the lines were never terrible at all and the food was worth the wait.
Permalink Reply by MandyJay on January 17, 2013 at 12:32pm Oh, I want to go! I keep meaning to attend (and by "keep meaning to" I mean "have only realized it occurred after it was over" for around fifteen years), and this year I want to do it!
Permalink Reply by Shawn Spivey on January 17, 2013 at 12:46pm This truly is a "live to eat" moment. So, so, so good. I'm happy I posted this so you can throw it on your calendar. Maybe I'll see you there. :)

Permalink Reply by MandyJay on January 17, 2013 at 1:14pm Well, it's on my phone's calendar and it's the weekend of my older son's 14th birthday so here's hoping my brain doesn't fail me! :D
Thank you so much for mentioning this! Baklava... *drool*
Permalink Reply by Shawn Spivey on January 17, 2013 at 1:49pm That's funny. Last year it was on Ethan's 16th birthday and he said he wouldn't want to spend it any other way. His b-day is Feb. 26th.

Permalink Reply by MandyJay on February 21, 2013 at 11:51am My dreadful children don't want to go. I may have to force one to attend in spite of himself. Shawn, are you going to head over? Maybe I can abandon my kids and we could share a ride, LOL

Permalink Reply by MandyJay on February 22, 2013 at 8:02am Understood! No worries -- I'm figuring I should wait until next year to go. I still have the last 6-7 pounds of pound cake uhm,.. Christmas weight to scrape off, LOL. I figure if I'm not a complete crazy woman next holiday season (Must! Eat! All! The! Food!!!) then I can reward myself with the Greek Festival in 2014 :D
