Polk Moms

Connecting moms in Polk County, Fla.

Im looking for a space to have my daughters 11th birthday. She doesnt want to do skating or bowling. She just wants a room where everyone can hang out, dance, do crafts and some games. we live in north Lakeland. The K Of C wants $450! City of Lakeland room rentals available for that day are a minimum of $325. Our apartment is too small to host and we dont have a clubhouse. Any suggestions?

It's funny you mention this because I picked up the blue coupon book yesterday from the UPS Store and they have a coupon for a Party Room Rental.  The VFW on 9398 US Hwy 98 North rents out their hall, it says regular rate is $200 and it's a $25 off coupon. It says there is a bar available (which you most likely will not need), steam tables for food if needed and occupancy is 110.  I'm sure they may charge more for the hot/steam tables, but I could be wrong.  If you get a booklet it's on page 16 in the America's Favorite Coupon Book.  Their phone number is 815-4777.  There is also a guy we know that does those party inflatables.  It's Backyard Bouncarooz.  It's owned by Shannon Dugan and his wife Dawn.  He used to be a manager at the Best Buy on 98 North, but left to do this instead.  Their number is (863) 286-4215 and their web address is BackyardBouncaroozLLC@yahoo.com  Hope this helps!!!

Our son will be 13yrs old in Feb and he's the same way.  Doesn't bowl or skate and Chucky Cheese seems to juvenile.  Our clubhouse is small, but has a kitchen and we can put the inflatable up there since the pool will be closed.  May decide to rent out so there's no issues with a pool that's closed since the restrooms are outside by the pool.

Try the after school program type places (dance, karate, etc). They are usually vacant for a few hours on the weekends and rent out for reasonable rates.

Barnett Park (free, first come first serve for pavilion use)

Common Ground Park (you can pay to reserve a pavilion or can use them for free if no one else is using them)

Christina Park (large pavilion, $75 for 4 hours, $15 ea addtnl hr)

Chuck E Cheese

Family Fun Center

Explorations V Children's Museum

Gymnastics Etc

These are just a few off of the top of my head that are more affordable than what you were mentioning.  If you need help planning it I would be happy to help you (I'm an event consultant) for a nominal fee.

I was gonna say Barnett park!! Send someone to set up early and gaurd your spot! :) good luck
