Connecting moms in Polk County, Fla.

Yesterday the Dept of Health advised those of us with private wells that had flooding boil our water while we're flooded and disinfect our well after the flood recedes.

Of course my reaction is... Seriously?! NOW you tell us?! LOL We've been drinking our water all along! While the middle of my property is still flooded, the front of the property where the well is isn't flooded anymore.

Anyway, I thought I'd pass it along. I'm off to try and figure out just how in the world you disinfect a well...

I don't think they are talking local flooding like just water standing in your yard, I think they are concerned in areas where larger bodies of water have overflowed and could contain sewage (of course I don't know if this is you but I didn't hear of anything major in Polk).  You might want to check with local authorities to see if it applies to you. Of course in genuine government style, they try to scare EVERYONE.

It was my understanding the septic tanks could have a problem with run off. IDK if livestock feces in neighbors yards is an issue too since theirs drains into mine which goes into the next...

Definitely something to look into...
