I disagree with the thumb sucking. The 2 kids I breast fed the longest both suck there thumbs.

Breastfeeding is a health choice! Not a lifestyle choice. Some of my best friends breastfeed exactly for this reason. They are not so much "in love" with nursing but do it for the health of their children.

I love this Carla!  Many people ask my wife why she "allows" our almost 2 yo to breast feed at night.  Simple answer...long breastfeeding equals better health for both baby/infant and mommy!  It really is that simple!  Is my wife always excited about it...NO.  But she knows our little one does and it is a huge health benefit!

Unfortunately some mothers work full time-

This is all true for my children.  I have been fortunate enough to bf all 3 of them past 12 months, while working full time.

Bonnie B,
I am so sorry that you did not feel supported in your decision to return to work full time and continue to provide breastmilk to your baby.
I have been lucky enough to work with breast feeding mothers for 16 years and have supported and helped many moms work out a plan to return to work while still exclusively breast milk feeding their baby or partially breastmilk feeding their baby. Along with working full time ( 3 jobs during 1 year) I have also returned to work and breast fed but it was NOT easy.
If you are ever in the position again please know that their is help and support in the Polk County community. LRMC, The Regency, Lakeside Pediatrics and Watson clinic all have breast feeding help and support. LLL of Lakeland is a mother to mother support group that is available also. ( llllakeland.org)

Its so great to hear that more woman are breast feeding. I still nurse my 16mon old baby about 3 to 4 times a day. When I was working full time with my 4 other children I also fed them up to 2 years of age if I couldn't physically be there I would always make enough time to pump even if I was tired. Mommies need their rest also but baby needs nutrients if your tired or not. It is not easy all the time but its worth it in the long run for baby and mommy. Not to brag or anything but I have had 5 children breast feed all and I am still at the weight I was at before I had my first. (125) I also had a few other benefits in my body as well.  So from my experience  BF Is wonderful for Baby and Mommy! A couple more things. Moms Always stay encouraged be around people who encourage you. Always have a positive attitude especially when nursing. Babies sense everything. If you have a hard time seek for guidance because it is out here.
