Polk Moms

Connecting moms in Polk County, Fla.

My teenage son and his girlfriend live with me and I take care of their 3 month old baby while they are at school. I want to go back to work myself but cant afford to. It seems as if I will go to work just to pay daycare for the baby. I have been searching all over the internet looking for some type of assistance program for child care in my area (Davenport) and I am coming up with NOTHING! Any advice??

Are they attending a public school? If so, there is daycare assistance. they do NOT have to go to the Teen Parent program to qualify. However, if they go to the teen parent, they are eligible for tech classes and transportation is provided for the baby as well. Teen Parent has a daycare on site so the baby would be close by to them.

yes they are both in public school and we discussed her going to teen parent but we dont feel like that is going to be a positive thing right now. Where do I go to find out if they will qualify?

You can call Ridge Tech and ask to speak to the teen parent social worker. 863-419-3060. If she wants to stay in her home school, ask how you can get childcare assistance or who you need to call at the district office.

ok thanks for the info :)

Arbor Early Learning I believe services Davenport.    I have arbor.  I only pay $12 a week for daycare.  There is a waiting list, but it is def. worth the wait.  863-577-2450give them a call.

How long did you wait before your heard back? I am on a waiting list now and they said they have up to 120 days to call me.
