Connecting moms in Polk County, Fla.

In regards to today's article. As a disclaimer, my daughter is a 4th grader @ Wagner, so this hits VERY close to home.

Why did the reporter who wrote the story for The Ledger feel it was necessary to state the child lived in a trailer (verses his 'home'), with 13 relatives (verses 'siblings and extended family'), and that the father was quoted via an interpreter (why not just quote him?)??? Those things had no bearing on the story, and cause many who didn't know the boy to make assumptions about his life, his family and his death.

What a sad way to discount the life of a child: portray him as a worthless migrant, whose parents dont speak English.

Way to go, Ledger.

As of now, it looks like most of the horrible comments were removed.  I reported the remaining one and it disappeared for me at least.

Alicia, just pick any story, any issue.  Then watch those people whom are our neighbors, that are so filled with hate toward another human being, or in those rare cases when they aren't really hateful, instead just so full of ignorance. It's dishearting to find so many that hate and seek to harm other human beings so readily, as found here on the Ledger story sites.

The Tbo commenters were the worst IMO, each article they would try to out joke each other, not in a nice way either.   At least there are only a couple haters posting on the ledger and it looks as though they can be handled on a case by case basis.
