Polk Moms

Connecting moms in Polk County, Fla.

Sunday I'll pull out the tree and decorations after hubby goes to work.  Did clean a bit in the living room and got a bit more to do.  Tomorrow I'll go through some things in the laundry room as I pull the stuff out.

Got a bunch of stuff that can go.  Just donated a bunch of stuff to Secret Santa's of Polk County the other day and still collecting more.  Hard to part with some of the toys, but I rather know it's going to kids that play with it than it just sit here or get packed up.

Would like to decorate a bit outside.  May tape up some holiday ribbon on the carport support like I did last year.  Maybe I'll grab some cheap garland from the Dollar Tree and use it on the handrails of the steps.

Trying to get into the holiday spirit as much as possible.

My holiday spirit comes in bits & pieces.  I finally got the livingroom cleaned to my satisfaction (moved furniture around and shampooed the carpet) and dragged the tree out.  Why is it that artificial trees after a few years drop as many "needles" as real ones?  Taking my time to decorate the tree - dinner is in the crock pot and I'm just being lazy as I add the balls and assorted other items.  This year I am only putting 1 tree up because the dining room is full of furniture and boxes.  My daughter moved back in with us due to illness and her stuff is spread through her room, the dining room and a small storage unit.  And with her car parked in the front yard, I don't have a lot of room to decorate outside.  I will figure something out though, even if I just keep it close to the house.  I just have this need to spread the cheer outside!  Lights are so pretty and make me smile.  I'd like to find a way to keep a little bit of it all year round. :)

I was thinking of doing a real tree this year, but just not in the budget. So I'll drag out my Charlie Brown looking tree. It's a pre-lit one my mom got me a few years back at Walgreens for $10 on a Black Friday sale. As I get cards I fill in the big gaps...lol

I just am not looking forward to dragging it out because it's buried under stuff in the back of the laundry room.  I have a few things to put in it's place so I have room for the tree.  I should get another shed to store things.  One day I'll be organized.  I just hate seeing things I paid for leave the house.  Yard sales and I don't get along.  Rather just see it go to those who need it rather than get into a haggle war on price.

Well dug out the tree and decided that once the holiday is done the tree is gone.  Maybe I can get a nice new one on clearance after Christmas.  This poor tree is sad looking.  Didn't realize that it's about 8 yrs old anyways.  May decide to just go with a fresh tree so less to store each year.  LOL

I even put some of the decorative magnets on the front door.  Tomorrow I'll clean the fridge and put the other 2 on that.  Got them last year at the Dollar Tree.  Wish they had them again this year, but they don't.

Got to look at my coupons for the Command Hooks.  Just seen on tv earlier they have outdoor ones.  I got hooks a few years ago to hang lights up outside, but never did nor did I get outside lights.  Looks like I'll be hitting up the store this weekend to get lights (if we have the extra money).

Found a nice candle centerpiece I got a few years back on clearance.  Was going to keep it for myself, but think I'll wrap it and give it to my dad.  Also found a Christmas candle plate, but will use it to put baked goodies on.  Found a few treat bags for plates that I can wrap it in.  Plus I'll hit the Dollar Tree for a picture frame for the school picture to give him too.

We have started each night little by little, putting up Thanksgiving and getting out Christmas. We have a tree done in the front yard as well as our Santa.  We are still working on the house lights.. to be continued quickly I hope! We were a little disappointed in the tree selection this year. Lowe's always has nice trees and great prices, but they aren't falling like they did last year, we are having to wait a couple of days to decorate the tree.  It was very hard making the right choice on the right tree when it's still tied up and not falling down at all.  We shopped a few other places Publix etc, but the prices at lowes were too good to pass up! Now that we have it home and in the tree stand with water it's starting to drop and look like a great tree! Hope everyone else has great success at finding a tree, Christmas is coming early this year! :)

The adventures of a real tree : )  Love them though!!

I couldn't pass up the Lowe's tree deal either.   That's where we picked up ours, too.   I love the tall skinny look (and they take up less room in the house) and this is the 2nd year my local Lowes had the skinny trees.
