Connecting moms in Polk County, Fla.
My daughter's 6 year molars are in and I'm thinking of asking the dentist to apply the sealant to them. We have dealt with cavities already and I'm keen to avoid any more!
I'm interested in anyone who can share their experiences. Is it really expensive? Is it a pain for the kids? etc.

Permalink Reply by Party of 4 on January 9, 2011 at 10:25am My daughter (now 9) had it done when she was about 7, maybe. With our insurance it was $15 per tooth not expensive but about $50 by the time we were done. Some insurance companies do it free (to you) as a preventative.
She did fine. Although we were told by the dentist it was probably going to need to be done in 2 sessions because of her age. They did it all at once and she said it was easy.
Permalink Reply by Sarah Graham on January 9, 2011 at 11:11am I had my daughter's molars sealed and then later found out that the sealant contains BPA (Bisphenol A). Supposedly there are ways to minimize the exposure and the levels drop quickly, but I still would have appreciated knowing ahead of time. (The procedure was quick and painless, BTW.)
