I just had my first cup of Egg Nog of the season.  It is so yummy!  I wanted to share one of my favorite brands and believe it or not, it's a store brand.

My favorite is Publix brand Egg Nog.  I usually buy the lowfat- so tasty!  There's another name brand that I really like but can't think of which it is right now.  I guess I'll have fun taste testing to find it this season.

I don't know why I never look, but is Egg Nog available year round?  If it is, where have you seen it?

Drinking this just completes the holidays for me.

If you have recipes that include cooking with eggnog, please post them.  : )

I don't think eggnog it available year round, but I have a recipe from Top Secret Recipes that I can make it whenever I have a craving for eggnog.

I do like the recipe posted above also. :)

This is similar to the recipe I used last year, except I used non-dairy creamer.

Ingredients

* 8 cups lowfat milk
* 1 (3 oz.) package of fat-free French Vanilla instant pudding
* 1/2 cup sugar
* 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
* 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

Directions

In a large bowl, mix the pudding with 1 cup of milk. When pudding is formed, add the rest of the milk and the remaining ingredients and mix well. Chill.
I had Coquito once and it was out of this world. Going to make the stuff next weekend so it's ready for Christmas. You can drink it as soon as it's chilled, but was told the longer it sits the better it is. Many different recipes out there but this one is the easiest.

Coquito (Puerto Rican Eggnog)

Coquito is a traditional punch served at Christmas and New Years celebrations. The drink is similar to eggnog
with rum. This particular recipe does not call for raw eggs. Nor does it call for you to crack open a fresh
coconut. It's a very simple mixed drink.

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 1 hour
Total Time: 1 hour, 10 minutes

Ingredients:

* 2 15-ounce cans cream of coconut
* 2 14-ounce cans condensed milk
* 6 ounces white rum (use less if you like)
* 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
* 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
* 1 teaspoon coconut (or vanilla) extract

Preparation:
1. Mix all ingredients in a blender.

2. Refrigerate for about an hour before serving. Serve cold.

Serves: This recipe makes about 36 ounces.
1tiredmommy- you crack me up! Lol! Thanks for that. : )

I found a recipe that includes eggnog as an ingredient! I just may try these for our upcoming cookie swap. : )

EggNog Cookies!
I made these last year in my goodies platter and it was a hit.

Eggnog Quick Bread

Ingredients

* 2 eggs, beaten
* 1 cup eggnog
* 2 teaspoons rum flavored extract
* 1 cup white sugar
* 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 1/2 cup butter, softened
* 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
* 2 teaspoons baking powder
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease bottom only of a 9x5 inch loaf pan, or three 3x5 inch
loaf pans.
2. Blend together the eggs, eggnog, rum extract, sugar, vanilla and butter.
3. Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Add to eggnog mixture and stir just enough to moisten; pour into prepared pan.
4. Bake bread in large pan for 40 to 60 minutes, or until a tester inserted in the center comes out clean.
Breads baked in the smaller pans require 35 to 40 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes, and remove from pan. Cool completely, wrap tightly and store in refrigerator.
I've also used the recipe from allrecipes.com for their eggnog french toast and eggnog pancakes. Both are very yummy!!!
Just watch out on how much eggnog you consume. My FIL loves this stuff and could drink a half-gallon in one night, well he did a couple of years ago consumed probably 3 gallons in like 7-10 days and ended up in the hospital with his gall-bladder killing him...it couldn't process it out quick enough, so enjoy but everything in moderation.
Okay, I wanted to tell you ladies I reacquainted myself with the TG Lee brand Eggnog. I love the low-fat of their version as well. I wanted to tell you about a savings opportunity if you are into egg nog. On a jug of TG Lee milk I recently purchased, on the inside of the milk label was a .50 cents off egg nog coupon.

Also, right now (not sure how long it will last) you can go to TG Lee's website and print a $1.00 off coupon on any TG Lee product (you can print it twice per computer). You can use it on egg nog or milk, or what ever strikes your fancy in the TG Lee line. : )

We started chatting Egg Nog in the Mint topic.  I thought, why not bring the Egg Nog topic back up for this year?   I do LOVE Egg Nog- so tasty!   How about you?  Do you love or like it?  Maybe not?   Do you have a favorite brand?  Like to make it yourself?

Was at Publix with my son earlier and asked to get the TG Lee Pumpkin Spiced Egg Nog.  He's had this and regular in the past and didn't care for.  Rather than remind him, I said he could get it.  We got home, I put a little bit in the cup just incase he didn't like it (I love the stuff, especially spiked..lol).  He loved it.  No need to remind him that he never did before.  I keep saying I'm going to make Coquito (Puerto Rican Egg Nog), but I never do.  I've had it before and my sister in laws brother gave me his recipe.  I really need to do it next year.  He makes it a month before so it really has time to mix.

I can take a sip here and there, wouldn't probably by it for myself.  Started brining it home at a request from my hubby.  The kids of course like it.  They started sipping it so early, I had to mix 1/2 milk with 1/2 egg nog to get them to be able to sip it through their sippy cups!  Cuts back on the sugar in take also : )  They still like it that way when they are not in the mood for the extra thick cup of egg nog.
