Here is a compilation of posts from people and stories of how the FCAT is negatively affecting people and schools.
Working from my phone it's time consuming to read them all. The first post that appeared for me is quite descriptive and seems comprehensive, even touching on how school grades are devised from FCAT scores and how all that can negatively affect the future of a school and possibly the school's very existance.
We need to think very hard about the negative effects of the FCAT and we need to think why we place so many decisions on the scores of the FCAT.
There are more facets to human beings and more positive aspects to schools than what is possible to discern from the scores of a series of point in time tests.
The FCAT/EOC approach is an attempt to standardize our children, but children are individualized by design.
