It's at the old Sarasota Library, very pretty views on the waterfront.  The Hyatt accross the street used to have a bar and grill and the McDonalds is south about 2-3 miles on the left.  Sorry, can't help you with the inside of the GWIZ  :).
Also, Mote Marine is near that area.

thanks.....is the library big? just trying to gage if its worth the 2 hour drive over,

If its anything like the Childrens Museum in Lakeland although that is a cool place, we have been there frequently and our son is little bored with that place now....wanting something a little different?

Thanks for your help

We have never been inside GWIZ, but when I was a kid, the Selby Library was a very big 2-story library. GWIZ took it over, and the library is now in downtown Sarasota.

I was just thinking if you found GWIZ wasn't worth the trip, less than about 10 miles away is Mote Marine and that is a pretty awesome aquarium.  Across from  the aquarium is the bird sanctuary with rescued birds.

Thank you for posting this.  We are heading to Sarasota next week for a couple days.  Will be looking into this.  We are going to mini golf at Pirate Cove, hit the beach (of course), go to Ben and Jerry's Store and go to Munchies 420 Cafe (was on Man vs Food).  There's the Ringling Museum and a Car Museum too but not sure if we'll be going to that.

Also, the Selby Botanical Gardens is on Palm Ave, near Marina Jack.  There are beautiful Banyan trees and an old Mansion, as well as many plants for sale.  Island Park is nearby that area, with a loop sidewalk on the water.

if in Sarasota for Breakfast-Try Yoders,  you won't be dissapointed,  I suggest the Rasberry Stuffed French Toast.   UUUUMMMMM.

Thanks for all the input, i was reading reviews of Munchies 420 ...looks like it does not dissapoint...i think we will try to go and eat there...for a early dinner, it opens at 420p, odd.....but it works for them....

Upadate.....

We went there today, Sorry to say I was not impressed....my son liked what they had there but he kept saying is that all?...they only had one area with a bunch of science kind of things , they were all pretty neat kept us occupied for about 1 hr 30 min...then we went up stairs for the Shipwreck exhibit ( which cost  extra) it was pretty good , they had some of the artifacts that where brought up from one of the wrecks.....and that took about an hour to go thru...that was it....small little gift shop not to pricey .I guess if you were in the area it would be worth a small day trip there .

there are a ton of small little towns in the area which i loved...the 8yr old was less then thrilled , but we made it to Venice beach to see if we could find some Shark teeth washing up in the shore...we found a small one....we were restricted from going in the water to far....High Bacteria Levels.....

It has some of the same kind of stuff that MOSI does...But MOSI is much more worth the trip

thanks for the update, was thinking about trying it but we'll just go to MOSI
