Connecting moms in Polk County, Fla.

We have a termite problem and wondered if anyone had ever used Terminix for pest or termite removal...  They seem like a good company, have a better guarantee that I could find anywhere else, but are awfully expensive, but it would be worth it if it works.

any input is appreciated.

Please call a fellow named Raymond Wells with Wells Pest Control before you go with a chain company.  I'm sure there are other independent guys out there as well, but he's the only one I've used over the years and couldn't be a nicer guy (or more reasonably priced.)

I do not know about Terminix but I do know about American Professional in Lakeland, and would not refer them to anybody, they do not honor their warranty. I know this because they did not honor their warranty with us. I do know that it takes 7 years for a colony to grow large enough for the termites to flee the nest in search of a new host to feed upon. Most warranties are 5 years. Also make sure you warranty covers all termites found in Florida. Wet wood termites are not usually listed on warranties. Educate yourself before signing anything. Here is one website, there are a lot others. After wasting $7200 for tenting + $100 every 2 months for 5 years so my warranty would stay in effect and then it not be honored, I would caution you to be careful with whom you put your trust in.

thank you both for the info - will call Wells Pest Control and check out that website.  Was a little leery of them which is why I wanted to know what experience other people have had.

I used All-Out Pest Control when I had a termite problem and was very pleased with the service, price and promptness of the

treatment.  I talked to Jim the owner @ 255-0525

I have used Beck's Pest Control for 10 years - excellent service for termite & pest control.  Called Terminex for same service, quote was over twice as expensive...plus, they tried to sell me on a service that I explicitly stated that I did not want.  I will not be calling Terminex in the future.

thank you everyone for your referrals, we are going with a locally owned company and feel much more comfortable about that!

I know this is late but I use Terminix
