Connecting moms in Polk County, Fla.
I have exausted nearly every avenue I know of in finding an LPN. My daughter (17) was given her dream by the Make A Wish Foundation, which is to travel on a Nicholodeon Cruise. The MAW has agreed to pay all of the travel expenses, including the nurse to have her own private suite, yet I know of no one who is willing or able to attend. I only need minimal assistance, about 2 hours per day, and in exchange the nurse would be free to roam as she pleases. The destinations would be St. Thomas and St. Marteen in the Virgin Islands as well as the Bahamas. The trip would be for 7 days and the travel dates are still open, though I would prefer to travel before the hurricane/rainy season begins. I am also willing to pay $600.00 in cash along with this exciting opportunity to tavel first class (a $2500.00 value). I can be reached at 863-619-5230. Thank you! Phil

I'll ask at work to a couple of LPN's, also you might try talking to Traviss Vo Tech Center ---- they might have some new LPN's that don't have a job yet.
Permalink Reply by Christina Pratt on April 5, 2011 at 4:45pm I am an LPN and would love to hear more about this event. If I am unable to go, I know MANY LPN's and am sure we can get you on track with someone! Please feel free to email me at lakelandgal4ya@yahoo.com

I am an LPN. I worked for LRMC for almost 13 years in acute medical and floated to many of the other depts. during my employment. I am no longer working but my license is current. I am interested in hearing the needs of your daughter to determine if I am experienced in the care that she needs. Since I am not currently working I am available to see to her needs. You can email me at martin.doris47@gmail.com. Thank you. Doris
You could try calling Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine and telling them what you are trying to do. They mayhave someone there who could help or put you in the direction. Their telephone number is 863-686-5846.
Hi Doris,
Thanks, I will e-mail you later tonight when I get a chance.

Permalink Reply by Tabby on April 5, 2011 at 7:44pm Hi Tabby,
That might be a good place also, though my daughter is 17 which makes her a peds case. Most who work in nursing homes prefer geriatrics for a reason and vise versa for peds, home healthcare or any other medical specialty. I am not exactly sure why other than a personal desire to help in that type of senerio :-)

My mom said she can ask at her place if that is ok? She works at a nursing home. Just let me know.
