'Historic and life-threatening' freeze brings rare danger warning

I know I mentioned this coming in our ongoing weather thread, but I thought this story is a story on it's own.   Some of the reports already coming out of the north is amazing!  Cars frozen to the ground, boiling water freezing in mid-air.

And this morning, it was beautiful, warm actually, the kids and I (and two other children we have here today) loved the weather.  You notice the 'ed' on loved?  In just the last hour and a half the temperature has really dropped, the wind has picked up and now it's drizzling.   It's coming.

Historic and life-threatening' freeze brings rare danger warning

Every major news outlet is covering this story and reports are there will be deaths from this cold.   Although here in central Florida we are extremely lucky to not be on the receiving end of the coldest of cold, we are expected to dip to historic lows ourselves.

Do you have loved ones in other parts of the country you are concerned for?

So, what do you all think?   It's pretty cold today, and the wind.  The WIND!, makes it feel all the chillier.    One of my kiddos was happy to layer up, but I had another fighting me with, "I don't want to wear a sweat shirt and a jacket.  I don't want a scarf."  I then said I should give them a sign to wear that said, "Mom tried."

This is great news for our area, Polk's Fruit, Fish Industries Suffered No Apparent Damage From the ....  What did you all think of this cold snap?

I am with you Shawn.  Thankfully mine listened yesterday although with some arguement.  She is a safety patrol at her school, so sometimes ends up outside in the morning in the car line assisting with opening car doors, etc...  When I picked her up yeterday, she let me know she did end up outside all morning and was glad she had her winter coat (thank goodness it still fit since we purchased it last year), hat, gloves & scarf!  She even mentioned she thought she was the only one that had gloves.  This morning, there was no arguement at all and she even put on a smaller jacket under her winter coat : )
