Autistic Girl, 9, Apparently Drowns After Wandering Away From Party

This is so sad. People think I am overprotective about letting my kids go off with other people.

I knew a mom from therapy who's son is autistic and she would allow him to ride up and down the side walk infront of their apartment.  She was inside but would look out the window every so often to see him.  They've lived there for years, everyone knew him and he never wandered off before.  Like this little girl he had a fondness for water as well.  The one day he wanders off and she went nuts.  It was at dusk no less and an officer happen to see something bobbing around by this pond that was well below the road level (near the golf course at Wedgewood).  He got to the boy just before he was about to take the plunge.  Luckily that officer caught that because it could have ended so badly.  He did not know how to swim. He also was non-verbal.

One of my friends has an autistic son as well and she had him go thru swimming lessons and now swims like a fish.  She figured if there was that one day he wandered off and went to a pond or lake, he had a fighting chance.  Although he's never out of her sight you can never be to sure.

.

Seething here that the people are allowing their kids to be assaulted with 4 times the amount of neurotoxins than they were in the early 80s.
