Permalink Reply by Shawn Spivey on November 21, 2012 at 12:20pm Bump! I wanted to bring this back up in case some of you want to save some turkey back or if you have some left after turkey day tomorrow.
Please add your favorite ways to re-prepare turkey. :)
Permalink Reply by Tabby on November 21, 2012 at 1:34pm I actually just popped my bird in a few minutes ago so there's less I have to do tomorrow. After that is done, I'll cook the pumpkin pie and get it nice and cold over night in the fridge. Never really cared for it warm or at room temp.
I bought a 22 and a half pound bird. Stuck it in the Oven Bag with not just the flour but some garlic, thyme, sage, onion powder, and sprinkled it with some season all. Says it will take 3-3 and a half hours to cook, but it's usually done in 2 and a half to 3 hours.
Tomorrow I'll do up the mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, stuffing and heat up the gravy. Got the Hawaiian rolls to go with it.
Tonight I'm making a breakfast casserole in the crock pot to cook over night. Already browned the sausage. Did not have hash browns in the freezer, but I do have tater tots so that works. Not having to worry about getting up to make breakfast is great.
Permalink Reply by Tabby on November 25, 2012 at 3:44pm Today I just layered everything in a casserole dish for dinner. Mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing, green bean casserole, turkey, gravy, and topped with fried onions. Smells great in here. Still got several quart baggies of turkey meat. Not bad at all. Hubby wants to make a turkey chili, but I never had it that way. If I did a turkey chili I bought ground turkey meat. May give it a whirl in a few days when he's off again.
A mom at the store this morning was asked by her kids what is for lunch and she says turkey. They ask what's for dinner and she says turkey. All you hear was groans. I was snickering. We've been eating turkey too the past few days.

Tried something new this year, and it's my favorite way to use leftover turkey to date. I used a McCormick white chili seasoning packet and followed the directions on the back, using leftover turkey instead of cooking chicken. Add the water and seasoning to a pot, an undrained can of white beans (great northern or navy), a can of drained corn (yellow or white), and then the turkey. Cook as directed, and add a spoon of sour cream on top when serving. Yum!
I also had leftover broth and celery from Publix's B1G1 sales last week. 4 cups chicken broth, leftover turkey, a carrot or two, a stalk of celery, and some egg noodles, and you've got some great soup!!
I also froze a container of cooked turkey since I knew we wouldn't reuse it all before it went bad. It will keep for months.
