Connecting moms in Polk County, Fla.

Hello,

I have two daughters the ages of 6 and 8 and i am expecting my son on March 2012. As of right now i am looking for a After School Care program for my girls. I live on the north side of Lakeland. I would like to know if anyone knows of any reasonable prices but of course good places to go to. My kids are my life and want them to go to a place where they feel comfortable and welcomed and taken care of. I would appreciate all of the feed back.

The YMCA programs at the schools are awesome. Which school do your children attend? As far as a place for them that will also accept your infant is hard to find on the north side. I knew of one but they aren't open anymore. Maybe check Bethel Child Dev Center?
I actually have heard about the YMCA programs. I wonder who i should talk to about it though. And my kids go to DR. NE Roberts. I am not so much worried about the baby right now because he is not born yet and i get to spend 12 weeks with him after i have him so by the time i go back to work he will be 3 months. So as of right now i am just really trying to find something for my girls.
My son is 4yrs old and he went to the YMCA during the summer and it was fun for him. They are diverse and have so much activities for them to keep busy. My friend daughter who is now 10 did her after school there too.  You can go by there and they will give you a tour of the facility so you can see the kids while they are in action. The Y was recommended to me and I will do it again next summer. They also have financial programs to help with the weekly cost.
I use to work for the Y and they are an amazing company. You can call 863-644-3528 and ask for Tammi and she can help you. You can sign up at the North Y on Sleepy Hill. The program will be at her actual school in the cafeteria. They have tables set up with different centers, they have outside time, get snack and homework time. They do different art activities.
My children also attend the YMCA afterschool kidcare program. It is located at their school, so they don't have to be picked up by bus or anything of that nature. They just walk from their class to the lunchroom or designated YMCA location at the school. The fact that I don't have to worry about them being bussed somewhere is a huge relief to me. And my kids enjoy it. My son gets to play outside a lot and my daughter can play centers inside and they have plenty of workers to help with homework etc.
