Connecting moms in Polk County, Fla.
My son could qualify on different levels (low income or IEP for sure).....I've been on the website, now can I get some real-life information?
Like school suggestions? I am looking for a smaller school, not necessarily smaller classroom. there are numerous reasons, too many to list. Basically we are unhappy with the school we're at. A few shining stars in the staff, but even with those stars.....it seems to be a huge black hole sucking the life out of my child. We are in the northeast corner of Polk County....closer to schools in Osceola, Lake and Orange counties than his zoned school.
What is the timeline for filing intent? I tried today, but I assume it's too early because the system didn't recognize him. Feb count day hasn't occurred yet. God help me if the one day in October he missed school was count day.

What about DSA or Ridgeview for public schools (yes they are charter) or for private the closest in county to you are North Ridge, and Landmark but I don't know if the accept McKay.
Ridge Christian Academy is in US-27 in Davenport, very close to Posner shopping center. It's small school, but McKay is enough to cover uniforms, registration and books. You should call whatever school you are interested in.
McKay is only for in county use only, but be advised that some schools from Osceola county DO fall under Polk County, not that many though.
