When I was a kid our neighbor was hurt while helping my dad convert the garage into living space. He filed a claim on our homeowner's insurance and they pretty much took care of his medical bills. Not sure about the rest of it though.
This is confusing. Was "he" doing a side job at someone else's home and got hurt? Was he paid for the job?
I work in the insurance industry.
First off. If he was doing a side job at someone elses house then that persons insurance company would pay - heres the kicker - only if that insurance policy has medical payments as part of the coverage. Most companies give NO MORE than 5k.
HOWEVER - If he was doing a side job at his house his homeowners insurance WILL NOT PAY. This is because - Medical Payments pay out if "someone other than the homeowner and current residents of the insured home" are the ones that are hurt on the insured property.
If a claim is filed under the insurance and it is denied then there is still a cliam on that persons record. Be wary of filing any claims unless you are certain it is to your advantage.
