Connecting moms in Polk County, Fla.
We've talked about washing our reusable shopping bags but after reading this story, maybe where we store them should be a chat, too.
It's not in the bathroom.
This story made me turn green from the thought. Food was packed in a grocery bag in a bathroom of a norovirus (vomiting, diarrhea) infected teammate and the virus became airborne (gross!) contaminating the bag and its contents. These were later consumed by the rest of the team. Many of the team mates became ill.
Here's the pitiful story, Norovirus Outbreak Traced to Reusable Grocery Bag

I agree we should be washing the bags but as far as Norovirus goes, it's so contagious, that if one teammate had it, they all probably would have gotten it anyways. I've heared it's also referred to as Norwalk bc it's so contagious it "walks," so to speak, from one victim to the next. My husband's hospital had to call in agency workers because his entire floor caught it and a hospital is about as sterile a place you can be. Of course he also brought it home and shared it with the family. Lucky us. :( But still, I agree to wash those bags!
