HEAT oven to 375ºF.
BROWN meat with onions in large skillet, stirring occasionally; drain. Spoon into 2-qt. casserole.
MIX soup and milk; pour over meat mixture; top with layers of remaining ingredients.
BAKE 45 min. or until potatoes are golden brown and casserole is heated through.
I hear you about the cheese...We always add extra veggies to casseroles, soups, and stews here. Our son is a huge veggie freak...lol Will have to try to put veggies on the side if it does taste better without it. I just put them in because it's easy and less to wash (grinning).
