Connecting moms in Polk County, Fla.
UGH!!! Usually Monday's do not bother except for today. Put in a large load of wash, drop Jesse off at school, get home, open the washer and SURPRISE!!! Full of dirty water and clothes. Turn the dial a bit and starts back up on Rinse Cycle. Goes to Spin Cycle and all you hear is ticking. REALLY??!!
Hand rung as much as I could out and ran it up to the clubhouse to rewash it all. Cost me $2 and luckily I had quarters to get it done. Brought it home to hand on the clothesline to dry. Last set of dryers in there didn't dry well and don't know how these new ones they put in are (actually slightly new). Will find out when I have to do towels in a couple days.
Funny thing was we were looking at freezers and I found a nice little upright one for $200. Now this weekend we'll go on the hunt at Best Buy and Lowes for a washer. Those are the only 2 places I have access to a credit card. Otherwise I have to wait till the end of Feb when income tax is in. Really do not want to wash stuff by hand or run to the laundry room at the clubhouse.
Funny thing is my other washer lasted 10 yrs and did the same thing. When Lowes came for delivery they said it sounded like a relay burnt out which would cost us less than $100 to fix. Already bought a washer and not going thru that mess. Same thing again. About 10 yrs later and this one does the same thing. Not going to try to fix it and go thru the mess when I really need a washer now. So tonight I will be pulling water out as much as possible and start cleaning the area to get to the washer. Great motivation now...LOL
Then here we go again with a Honda. Last week hubby asked me if I ever had issues with the radio or the controls on the dash for it. Seems it froze up one day and none of the buttons worked. Had to turn the car off and then back on again. Well it did it with us Friday when we were out, so now I know what he's talking about there. Should have just went straight to the dealership when it did it.
Then he asks me last week also if I noticed the lights on it flickering on the control for the radio. Since I drive during the day and he drives it at night, nope don't notice it. Well Saturday night we are out and guess what. It flickered when the radio was on and off. Also service was closed and sales guys were leaving so I called today. All I get is "if we can't duplicate it, then there's nothing we can do". Told him they are not open when it's dark and they close before it gets dark so unless you stick it in a dark service bay area, you will not see it. I am going to try to get with my hubby tomorrow to see if we can cover up the windows in daylight and see if it works. Their only solution is to leave it with them and they will drive it home at night to see if it does it. I do not blame my hubby for not being to thrilled with this. We don't know how they'll drive it (fast or whatever), the conditions of the road where they live, if they scratch or dent it or if they get into an accident with it. We haven't even made out first payment yet.
This stress is really pushing my nerves to the end. We are suppose to be going to NY this summer (my 25th high school reunion and see family) which I am already looking with air fare, car rental and other stuff $2,000-$2,500 for the 2 weeks. Thank goodness we are staying with my cousins up there. Going to look for floor model washer and scratch & dent. it's in a laundry room unseen so I don't care. The one that we have now was a floor model, day it was delivered they put a big scratch and small dent in it so I got an additional $50 off the already marked down price. Maybe I can get it again :)
Sorry...Just needed to vent. Thanks!!!

Permalink Reply by Tabby on January 28, 2013 at 9:31pm Took about 15 mins to scoop out as much water as possible from the washer. My arm is killing me now. Will have to do the think with the towel in it to absorb the rest and ring it out each time.
Figured out that Friday night I could head to the dealership service dept just before 6pm with the blinking lights. This way by the time they enter in our info it should be getting dark enough to see it. Will head outside around 5:45pm tomorrow to see how it works. Wish me luck!!
After this it is doubtful we will ever buy another Honda again. 3 Honda's in about 5 months. Not normal by any means!!
Hi Tabby! Just wanted to put my 2 cents in about the washer because I just went through this in December. My very expensive LG front loader broke on me this December. It had been giving me some trouble for a few months though. It was the WORST washer I have ever owned but I spend so much $$ on it, I made it work. The plastic ring got moldy no matter how much I washed it with clorox. My clothes didn't smell right, ughh, it was just nasty. everyone who ever slept over and used my towels always said they smelled "funny" so embarrassing! Anyways, when I noticed the washer was on it's last leg, I started doing some research and to my surprise found TONS of complaints about front loaders! and all the complaints mirrored mine. I decided to go old school and look into a washer with an Agitator. The more I read, the more convinced I was to go this route. I ended up buying a GE 3.9 cu ft. washer with agitator. pretty good reviews and i've loved it! Washes better, my clothes don't smell AND I can leave my clothes soaking overnight which is something you can't do with the front loaders. I like to leave my whites soaking in clorox. Anyways, I found Lowes to have the best price online! I still went into the store, paid for it there and requested delivery etc, but the price they had my washer for was $150.00 more then online, however, because it was their website, they honored the price without even blinking an eye. I paid $400.00 for a washer shown on sale at their store for 549.00 at the store :)
Anyways, just wanted to share my experience and my thoughts with you. Good luck on your new hunt. We are a family of 5 so a washer is the absolute main appliance in this house!
Permalink Reply by Tabby on January 29, 2013 at 10:33am I've always love the look of front load washers (reminds me of going to the laundry mat when I was little and my parents machine was broke), but the cost was just to much. I've had the same issues with funny smelling towels. Even after adding extra fabric softener in the wash. Ended up folding them up and putting fabric softener sheet in between them.
I used to have a GE when I first moved here and I LOVED it till it did the same thing as this one. I could put a king comforter in there no problems. This one I got wasn't quite as big to fit one, but it's okay. Looked at those portable ones at Walmart.com. Thought maybe it would save me room and I can do a big pantry area in the laundry room, but not wanting to drag it around. I found some online for as low as $350 on sale, but I know I may find better in the store. I'm not picky as long as it does it;s job. Looks don't mean much if it's not out in view of everyone.
Thanks though for your input on the front load. Will definately not look at those even if it's a good sale.
Permalink Reply by Shawn Spivey on January 29, 2013 at 11:02am I will ditto your sentiments on front loading washers. I am so over the one I have for all the reasons you mentioned. I'm on the hunt for a top loading washer now.

Permalink Reply by Tabby on February 9, 2013 at 4:06pm Went to Best Buy this morning and bought a new washer and freezer. Will be delivered next Saturday. Hubby talked with the store manager about not getting them last week for their sale price cause we didn't have our income tax yet. Since we are in there so much and are loyal customers he gave us last weeks prices. Also if it drops for less than I paid in 30 days, I get a refund in the difference. Hubby has a nack for talking and getting things for a bit cheaper. He just saved me cracking$150 on the two items. Feels pretty good. Now I have 1 week to clear everything out. Lots of stuff heading to goodwill that's for sure. Now maybe I can reach ny bread machine and second crock pot. Organizing at it's best going to be happening here (I hope). LOL
Permalink Reply by Shawn Spivey on February 11, 2013 at 9:19am I'm glad things are looking up for you, Tabby. I hope your new items work out great for your family. :) Good job seeking out the expired sale, all they can do is say no.
