I know we have some moms on here looking to save a few buck so I thought I would bring up Winn Dixie's new Fuel Perks rewards. I ran into WD a few weeks ago to get some gatorade and they gave me a new rewards card and told me to discard the other. Basically, the new one keeps track of how much you spend and it gives you money off your fuel at participating gas stations. I checked the gas prices at my favorite stations (Hess and Racetrack are cheapest near me). The participating gas station was right on par with Hess' prices, and a few cents more than Racetrack, so I decided I would try it. If you do all your shopping at WD, you can really save on gas. I did a few trips to WD over the last two weeks in Feb and got .40 cents off per gallon when I filled up the other day! I think certain items in the store give you double rewards points towards gas, and I think there is a bonus for signing up. I don't know how WD prices compare to my favorite store, Publix, and I don't know that they have as many "buy one get one" deals. They are offering more organic selections, which was a nice surprise, but there are a few staple items they don't carry, so I have been alternating between Publix and Winn Dixie lately. They don't have much organic produce at all, but they do have some nice grain fed angus beef. I know their customer service and cleanliness doesn't compare to Publix either, but I am trying this out as an experiment to see how much I can save. Anyone one else shop at WD? How much did you save on gas this month?

I use fuelperks and get between 20-40 cents off per gallon (I don't shop Winn Dixie too often).  What I also did was combine fuel perks with Publix's offer for gas cards (last week' circular I believe).  Publix offered 10 dollars off gas cards so I bought one of those to use at the gas station that does fuel perks.

I too combined the fuel perks offer with the gas card from publix. I drive a Tahoe and it was SWEET to fill my tank with $50.00!!! I had a savings of .65cents a gallon on fuel perks and I bought the gas card which was $40.00 for a $50.00 card with a purchase of $25 at Publix. Too bad i'm ready to fuel up again soon :(

I do almost all of my grocery shopping at Winn Dixie and have for a long time, for me unless i had a bunch of coupons i always spend more at Publix than Winn Dixie. I love the fuel perks - the most I can ever get is 75 cents off then I don't have the self restraint to wait anymore, I end up using them. With my big van I get so excited to put gas in at under $3 a gallon - you can only pump up to 20 gallons at the reduced price but that still gets quite a bit of gas in my tank. I really need to save them up for the month then use them all at once but so far I haven't. They do have items each week you earn double points on. I also like their meal deals - especially when I have coupons for some of the items. I've always been very happy with the customer service at my store. My only complaint is I wish their app did a better job of showing the meal deal or the bonus point items, but that's a small complaint. I didn't realize Publix sells Shell gas cards, I'll need to keep that in mind if they do their special pricing on that again - that's great to use one of those and combine it with the fuel perks!

Winn Dixie always has BOGO on meats every week and lots of other products.  They also have 10 for $10 which I really like because I stock my house.

I'm big into couponing and now I end up shopping everywhere. I do all my meats at winn dixie. Some of the meal deals are great especially when you combine the coupons.  That's about it for winn dixie. At publix I do all the buy one get one frees as long as I have coupons to combine with them. Walmart, and CVS I do for the free stuff or almost free such as cookies ,razors, deodarants and toothpaste, shampoos, etc..  I have gotten to where i'm at $100 a week on groceries for a family of 6.  Not too impressive but considering what I used to spend, i'm pretty excited! Last week I was at $125 with the gas card, I was HAPPY!

Here's my update on the Fuelperks. I am finding myself only doing about half my shopping at W/D, because they do not have the same selection of produce and meat that Publix has. I decided to go to both stores today. I went to W/D first for the non-perishables. I did notice a few things that seemed expensive at W/D (the big box of Goldfish was $8.49!). I decided to bring my W/D receipt in with me to Publix to compare prices. Boy was I surprised! Two items I bought were the same price, and one was cheaper at W/D by .20 (Organic Mac n Cheese). The rest of the items on my receipt (about 10 items) were more expensive at W/D. Some were a lot more expensive, but I would say it averaged about .40 more per item. I don't know that it is worth it for me to be running to two different grocery stores! I am actually going to return the Oxyclean I bought for 8.99 at W/D today because Publix had it on sale for 5.99 (it's normally 7.99 there). The only good thing that came out of this whole Fuelperks experiment is that I discovered that W/D has a pretty good wine selection, and some were on sale for like $5 off regular price.

we find Winn Dixie very expensive and we have one just around the corner from us, but we tend to only buy things there when they are on sale, but Publix too can be expensive, but we just shop for sales, use coupons and stock up when we can.  I know Winn Dixie is known for their meat, but we like to buy our meat from Publix, just seems better somehow, I know, picky, picky, but we have the time to shop around for sales, so why not try and save money that way...

I agree with you on the meat too. W/D is starting to carry some of the hormone free, grain fed beef, but it is not on display and you have to ask it. They never seem to have the lower fat ground beef in the healthier brand either. I bought the 85/15% fat one and it was too greasy, even after I drained it..and there were some of those hard chunks in it. I can't eat after I bite into one of those! I guess if you buy what is on sale and use coupons, it is worth it to shop there to take advantage of fuel perks. I wouldn't be surprised if someone buys them out.

I actually keep a spreadsheet of WD, Publix, and Walmart showing their normal prices.  Then, when I need an item, I know which store is the cheapest.  Overall, I find WD to be the highest, then Publix, and Walmart is usually the cheapest.

There are certain items I will not buy from Walmart like meat and produce (had too many bad experiences) and prefer to get these items at Publix.  However, if I need canned/bottled goods, there is no difference between the stores so I might as well buy from the lowest priced place.

I tried to do this with Publix and Walmart for a while, but I was doing it by hand! Do you just use Excel? I am going to check my phone for an app!

I'll second what MonsterMom said about Publix and Walmart, price comparison-wise.  For example Tombstone pizzas were 3.69 at Walmart compared to about 6.00 at Publix.  Same for Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches -- and with a MUCH better selection variety!

Like MonsterMom, I buy my all my meats and most of my produce at Publix due to some bad experience at Walmart.  Overall, though, I save about $15.00/ week at Walmart.  $60.00 a month may not be much to some folks, but to me it's pretty huge :)

FYI, you know how some big box stores and pharmacies will have the coupons for $10 gift cards if you fill a new prescription? The new Winn Dixie flyer has something similar but with fuel perks....I don't have it in front of me so don't quote me but I think you get a dollar off per gallon! Too bad I just filled my prescription elsewhere!
