Winn-Dixie to Close Stores, Make Cuts

Do we have any Winn-Dixie shopping/loving Moms (or Dads)?

I would really hate to see them close local stores; I hope Polk's locations will stay off the chopping block.

There are some items that I specifically like to buy from them that I can not find anywhere else.  I like to buy the Hooter's brand wing sauce in mild.  I can't find it in mild at other stores.  My local Wal-Mart, they only sell hot.  My kids love the mild!
Also, I like Winn Dixie's slab of ribs from their deli.  Maybe it's a yesteryear reminiscent thing for me.  My parents would buy them for dinner, probably once a month when my sister and I were kids.

For years, the only place I could find Verdi was at Winn Dixie.  That's not the case now, but I can remember running to the Mulberry location for the bottle of bubbly.  :)

If you do shop Winn Dixie, what is your favorite Polk location?

I like to run to the one on Socrum Loop from time to time. It's the closest store to me, not counting the little place in Polk City (although there is a Publix a little further down the road) and I do like the meal deals Winn Dixie does. Every time I get a flyer with a meal deal - I head straight in and they seem to have more BOGO sales. And somehow I always spend more at Publix. I hope the Winn Dixie I go to isn't on the chopping block, but I wouldn't be surprised if it is - they are never crowded when I go. I bounce around in my shopping depending on how much time I have, if the kids are with me, etc - usually Walmart and Sams, although I don't buy meat at Walmart. Winn Dixie is the traditional grocery store I go to most.
It looks like the Winn Dixie I go to will not be closed. I often go to the one on Lkld Highlands near Edgewood. Call me crazy, but every week I make the rounds to Publix, Walmart, and Winn Dixie. I get the ads to Publix and Winn Dixie, and sit down with my coupons to plan out the week's shopping. I will usually go to both of these stores on Thursday afternoon and then pick up anything else that I need at Walmart. We make the Sams club visit monthly but, using coupons and watching sales, I find that I can get items a lot cheaper than Sam's prices. My friends laugh at how I am constantly comparing prices and using coupons but I hate to waste money.
I don't think this is crazy at all - I just think it's smart. It KILLS me to pay more for something when I know I can get it for less :D I do my shopping in a similar way but I don't go to Winn Dixie because several other stores are more convenient - so when I factor in the gas/time etc I stick with Publix Sams and CVS. I can get great deals at CVS - I doubt I'll pay anything close to full price for toiletries as long as they keep their Extra Care card program.

I have only ever been in the Winn Dixie on Socrum once and I can't put my finger on it, but I just didn't like it - I found it dark and not very pleasant to shop in - I'm sure it was fine, it was just a personal feeling.

i couldn't find where it said which ones were closing, but anyways. i shop at the one in wachulla as this is closest to me. and really i only go for there meal deals. and if they have good bogo deals.
usually i shop at walmart. then i hit the publix bogo's. i'm sure i'm one of those shoppers stores hate to see. i save as much as i spend. i did just get a sams card. were trying that out. so far i think the sams club diapers work for us. and they last a long time. and can't beat the price.
Hmmm....I would be interested to see where these locations are. It is not yet up on their website.

I am a TOTAL Publix shopper and will not spend my dollars elsewhere (for reasons). I do not venture into Walmart (ever) and that is not an exaggeration. I do shop with a budget and do my best with ads, etc.

My heart and feelings do go out to those employed by Winn-Dixie as it is horrible to lose a job in these days and times. :(
